Other Thematic Areas
The African Cultural Foundation Vienna works across a range of thematic areas that address social, cultural, and global challenges affecting African and diaspora communities.
Through dialogue, education, and community initiatives, the Foundation explores issues such as digital rights, climate justice, gender equality, film, and community wellbeing, creating spaces where knowledge, advocacy, and cultural exchange intersect.

These thematic areas guide many of the Foundation’s programs, discussions, and collaborations, ensuring that the organisation responds to contemporary challenges while amplifying African and diaspora perspectives.
Digital Rights & Artificial Intelligence
As digital technologies rapidly shape our societies, the Foundation engages with the question of how Artificial Intelligence and digital systems impact Black and underrepresented communities. Discussions and events explore issues such as algorithmic bias, racial discrimination in technology, and the importance of inclusive digital futures.
By bringing together community members, experts, and creatives, these initiatives promote awareness, critical dialogue, and digital empowerment.

Decolonizing Climate & Climate Justice
African communities are among those most affected by the consequences of climate change, despite contributing the least to global emissions. The Foundation therefore addresses climate justice from a decolonial perspective, highlighting the voices, experiences, and solutions emerging from African and diaspora communities. Through dialogue and cultural engagement, these initiatives explore environmental responsibility, global inequality, and sustainable futures.
The Role of African Women in Development and Economic Life
Women make up more than half of Africa’s population and are widely recognized as a key pillar of economic and social development. However, many African women continue to face structural barriers rooted in unequal social systems and discriminatory practices in education, employment, and public life.
Despite important progress toward gender equality, significant challenges remain. In the context of the Black Lives Matter movement, examining the realities and challenges of African women’s participation in development and economic life is especially relevant. Through conversations, events, and partnerships, the African Cultural Foundation aims to highlight both the resilience and leadership of African women while advocating for systemic change.
