Community Wellness
Community wellbeing is an important pillar of the African Cultural Foundation’s work. Through a range of accessible wellness activities, the Foundation creates spaces where BIPOC's can reconnect with their bodies, cultures, and one another while also supporting the sustainability of our free cultural and social programs. Many of these initiatives are designed as community-based workshops whose proceeds help fund projects such as the "Yes She Can mentoring" programme and other educational and cultural initiatives.
Over the years, the Foundation has hosted a variety of wellness workshops that combine health, cultural exchange, and collective care. These include holistic workshops such as Yoga, Aromatherapy & Nutrition, which integrate mindful movement, the healing effects of essential oils, and practical nutrition guidance to promote balance between body, mind, and spirit. The Foundation also celebrates intergenerational knowledge through the popular “African Grannies Cook” cooking workshops, where participants prepare traditional Nigerian dishes alongside community elders, preserving culinary heritage while sharing stories and recipes.

Wellness programming also centers culturally responsive practices such as AfroYoga, a series designed specifically for BIPOC participants to cultivate relaxation, strength, and inner balance in a supportive environment. In addition, initiatives like the Afro Language Café bring people together to learn African languages in an informal setting over coffee and conversation, strengthening cultural connection and community bonds.

Through these activities, the African Cultural Foundation promotes wellbeing not only as individual self-care but as a collective practice that nurtures community resilience, cultural heritage, and shared empowerment.
Community Afro Yoga & Wellness
Organised during Black History Month, the AfroYoga series offers yoga sessions designed specifically for BIPOC participants.
These sessions provide a supportive space to relax, build strength, and reconnect with the body while celebrating community and cultural identity.

Cooking & Sharing Generational Knowledge
In this popular community cooking workshop, participants prepared traditional Nigerian dishes together with a community “Granny.” The event celebrates intergenerational knowledge, cultural heritage, and shared meals.
Participants receive a recipe booklet and spice box, and proceeds support social initiatives such as the Yes She Can mentoring programme.
Aromatherapy & Nutrition Workshops
The African Cultural Foundation promotes wellbeing through accessible workshops and gatherings that nurture physical, mental, and cultural wellness. These activities also help generate resources that support the Foundation’s free cultural and educational initiatives.

This holistic workshop combines the calming practice of yoga with the relaxing benefits of aromatherapy and practical nutrition guidance. Participants learn how movement, essential oils, and balanced eating can work together to support overall wellbeing and harmony between body, mind, and spirit.
