Our Story & the Founders

Celebrated annually on March 8th, International Women’s Day honors the achievements of womenand their contributions to political, economic, cultural, and social spheres. Since the 20th century, this event has evolved into a global day of recognition and activism, calling for gender equality and women's empowerment. Despite significant progress, disparities remain in areas such as leadership representation, economic inclusion, and access to education and healthcare.

In Vienna, a multicultural hub, women from different communities play a pivotal role in enriching society through entrepreneurship, arts, academia, and activism. With the presence of international organizations, there are additional representations of women that thrive to break barriers and access managerial positions. Yet, women all over the world still face unique challenges, including cultural adaptation, systemic discrimination, and limited access to platforms that amplify their voices.

EmpowerHer was created to celebrate and reflect on the accomplishments and impact of African and diaspora women, amplify their voices and put the spotlight on their achievements. Positioned at the crossroads of diverse cultures and worlds, these women navigate unique challenges while excelling in booming sectors; professional careers, and personal lives. Their journeys and achievements are sources of inspiration, offering a beacon of hope and motivation for other women and girls to pursue their ambitions. Seeing a fellow woman succeed serves as a powerful catalyst for others to believe in their own potential.
